On March 28, 2024, Australia released the 2024 Consumer Goods (Bicycle Helmets) Safety Standards. The Australian Competition and Consumer Council has completed the review of bicycle helmet safety standards and updated them to two voluntary Australian standards and four voluntary overseas standards, as follows:
(1) Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2063:2020 "Helmets for bicycles and wheeled entertainment equipment";
(2) Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2063:2008 "Bicycle Helmets";
(3) European standard EN 1078:2012+A1:2012 "Helmets for cyclists, skateboarders, and users of roller skates";
(4) Snell Standard B-95 "Standard for Bicycle Helmets" (1995) and the 1998 revised standard;
(5) American Society for Testing and Materials standard ASTM F1447:2018 "Safety standard for leisure bicycle helmets and roller skating helmets";
(6) The Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States (16 C.F.R. Part 1203) Safety Standards for Bicycle Helmets.
This standard was implemented on March 22, 2024.
